Volume 2 pagination continues through page 1311, fold out bw and color illustrated map in rear. Text is in French. The War Album: Photographic and documentary history, reconstituted chronologically using photographs and drawings published by "L'Illustration" from 1914 to 1921; expanded edition of unpublished documents and including many color reproductions, as well as a summary text constituting a true "Precis d'Histoire. Good (heavy wear to leather boards with pieces of spine missing; age toning, several mounted plates are unglued but all plates appear to be present. Light foxing to block. Pages are otherwise clear.) .

Volume 1 has a bw frontispiece with descriptive letterpress leaflet, viii, 288 pp, illustrated throughout in 30 facsimiles and 62 bw plates with protective tissue guards. Volume 2: bw frontispiece with protective tissue guard; 598 pp with 43 facsimiles and 55 bw plates with protective tissue guards. Volume 3: bw frontispiece with protective tissue guard; 622 pp, bw facsimiles and plates throughout. A three volume set with text in French. A 4th volume was published several years later. A collection of portraits of men and women in France in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Preceded by an "introduction that will include the main events that happened from Mèrovóe to Louis XII. By a society of men of letters and artists." Original rare edition of this set. VG (corners and edges dinged and bumped, light shelfwear to boards, pages have light age toning and some foxing spots as expected with age but text and plates are otherwise clear with tight binding.) .
